Projects
- Floating Workshops 2005
Once
again the TRBP
held a successful annual Floating workshop this past June. This year's workshop
was held in Thompson
and included a sediment sampling demonstration in West Thompson Lake. DEP
Commissioner Gina McCarthy was the keynote speaker and shared her vision for
Connecticut's future. Thanks to the town of Thompson we began
the workshop in the town library and then we headed out to West Thompson Lake.
With an assortment of boats including craft from Project Oceanology and the USGS
we were educated on
the challenges faced by the USGS in sampling the lake's sediments to determine
what role the lake plays in the contribution of excess phosphorus to the Thames
river. To see the complete agenda with speaker
names and titles click

and enlargement pictures of the event here. Complete details of last year's
floating workshop, including photos, can be found here.
